Western Reserve Life, a subsidiary of Aegon since 1991, offers term, universal, and variable universal life insurance policies, retirement plans, and variable annuities to individuals throughout the US. The company was originally founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1958, but moved to Florida ten years later.
In addition to product and service innovation, Western Reserve Life (WRL) has established an impressive record of financial strength. Western Reserve Life is rated A (Excellent) by A.M. Best, AA (Very Strong) by Fitch, A1 (Good) by Moody's, and AA- (Very Strong) by Standard & Poor's for financial strength. Parent company Aegon's businesses focus on life insurance and pensions, savings and investment products. The group is also active in accident and supplemental health insurance and general insurance, and has limited banking activities.
